UC Berkeley Summer Credit Program 2024 Enrollment Notification

The UC Berkeley Summer Credit Program, is the most popular summer Mini-semester in the country. The program gives international students an opportunity to take undergraduate/graduate credits with native American college students and other outstanding international students. Students can spend the summer with Berkeley courses, earning credits from the prestigious university and obtaining an official Berkeley transcript. In 2023, our school has already sent students to the U.S. to participate in this program, and the response has been very positive.

School Overview

The University of California (UC) is an administrative system consisting of 10 public universities located in California, U.S.A. The University of California is the most influential public university system in the world, and has been recognized as a “model for public higher education”.

UC Berkeley has the longest history among the 10 branches, and its teaching quality, research achievements, top scholars, equipment and students’ quality are also the top among the 10 branches, even around the world. The school, in the northeastern part of the San Francisco Bay Area, is located in Berkeley, California, the United States. It is across the bay from San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, lying at the foot of the mountain and beside the sea, with magnificent scenery. The Bay Area is of Mediterranean climate, with rainy seasons in spring and winter. It is characterized by cool summer and warm winter, which has a pleasant climate.

Six-Week Session (Session D: July 1- August 9)

l Fields of Business and Finance (July 1- August 9): various fields of Business Administration - Data and Decision-Making (for lower division students), Microeconomic Analysis for Business Decisions, Managerial Accounting, Introduction to Finance, Marketing, Corporate Finance and Financial Statement Analysis, Behavioral Finance, Topics in Finance, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, Power and Politics in Organizations, Pricing, Introduction to International Business, Topics in Corporate Responsibility, Campaign Management.

l Courses also cover other professions: Art, Astronomy, English, Engineering, Environmental Design, Environmental Economics, Environmental Science Policy and Management, Film and Media, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Law, Politics, Political Economy, Music, New Media, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Visual Science, Theatre Performance, and Bioengineering.

Three-Week Session (Session E: July 22- August 9):

l English Language Programs (no language score required): Intensive English Practice: Academic Speaking, Intensive English Practice: Conflict Resolution Skills, Intensive English Practice: Academic Reading and Writing, Intensive English Practice: Successful Job Search and Interviewing Skills, Intensive English Practice: Art and Design, Intensive English Practice: Pronunciation, American Language and Culture: Media, American Language and Culture: Business and Social Entrepreneurship, American Language and Culture: Reflections on Food, American Language and Culture: Women Poets, American Language and Culture: California Culture, American Language and Culture: Humor, American Language and Culture: Berkeley Experience.

l Other courses (language score required): Techniques of the Short Story, Music Theory, Introduction to Analysis and Notation, Special Topics in New Media including Introduction to Digital Infrastructure, Psychology and Health, Contemporary Korean and Japanese Society and Culture through Film, and Special Topics including Global Peace and Conflict, Mathematical Tools for Economics (optional for graduate students).

Three-Week Session (Session F: July 22- August 9):

l English Language Programs (no language score required): Intensive English Practice: Listening and Speaking, Intensive English Practice: Pronunciation, American Language and Culture: Business and Social Entrepreneurship, American Language and Culture: Reflections on Food, American Language and Culture: Humor, American Language and Culture: Story Narration.

l Other courses (language score required): Modern world history through film, Creative Writing (nonfiction): Cultural Criticism, Techniques of the Short Story, Competitive Strategies.

Entry requirements

1. Undergraduate, master’s degree and doctoral degree students are enrolled in the whole university;

2. Be in good health and have good character;

3. Language requirements (any one of the following is acceptable, and the score is valid for 3 years):

l CET4: 493;

l CET6: 450;

l TOEFL: 80;

l IELTS: 6.5;

l Duolingo: 115;

l TEM-4/TEM-8: 70.

1. 2024 Optional Summer Sessions at UC Berkeley:

July 1- August 9 (Six-Week Session)

5-8 credits (2 courses)

July 22- August 9 (Three-Week Session)

3-4 credits (1-2 courses)

July 1- July 19 (Three-Week Session)

3-4 credits (1-2 courses)

2. Schedule of classes and events:

UC Berkeley offers more than 600 summer courses in all academic areas, with flexible and innovative curricula and many majors ranked among the top in the U.S., including Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business, English, Media Studies, International and Area Studies, Journalism, Legal Studies, Political Science, Linguistics, Art History, Music, Minor Language, Theatre, Dance, and Performance.

Example: If student A chooses a Six-Week Session and takes 1 business course and 1 English course, the weekly schedule for student A can be seen on the left.

Note: Berkeley’s Six-Week Session courses are 2 or 3 credits per course, and some courses are 4 credits per course.



3. Those who pass the exams will receive an official UC Berkeley transcript. Students enrolled in the ESL program may apply for a certificate of completion at the same time.

4. The Berkeley Summer Program Enrollment Center will be uniformly arranged for students to register for courses, arrange for accommodations, provide guidance on visa processing, assist in booking air tickets, and assist in arranging pick-ups and other specific tasks.
